Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications do you need to be a tutor?
We partner with tutors who are certified teachers. They have their Bachelor of Education degree which certifies them to teach specific grades and subjects in the province. They have also met certain criteria, including a number of pre-service teaching hours and background check and references, to hold professional certification to teach in their province. To tutor with Teachers to Go, they must provide additional reference checks and participate in a pre-screening interview process.
What is the process of finding a tutor?
Please call 1-800-428-8164 or send us an email so we can learn about your child and their learning needs. After our conversation, and once we confirm the tutor’s availability, we will send you a detailed profile of them to review. If you like what you see, we can arrange a consultation at your convenience.
Where do you offer tutoring?
We offer online tutoring all across Canada. All you need is a strong Wi-Fi connection and a device equipped with a webcam and microphone. We use an interactive online learning platform that allows your child to see and chat with their tutor in real time. They can share their screen, word documents, and even (where available) upload and/or take pictures of their work during the sessions.
We also offer in-person tutoring in many cities across Canada.
Is online or in-person tutoring right for my child?
Both offer great benefits for students. Please contact us to learn more about online and in-person tutoring to see which option is best for your child.
Is your tutoring one-on-one or group?
We typically offer one-on-one tutoring because we find that everyone learns in their own way and at their own pace. Our one-on-one sessions enable the tutor to tailor every session to your child's needs and interests to keep them engaged and learning. That way your child gets the most out of the sessions.
Please note that groups can be arranged if requested.
Where is the location of the tutoring?
Sessions take place in your home or, if requested, at a public library.
How much do tutoring sessions cost?
We charge by the hour. The rates with our teachers vary depending on your location, grades, subjects, and whether the sessions are online or in-person. Call us and we can provide you with a quote.
