Benefits of Summer Tutoring

Your child has been working hard all school year and, whether they’ve been making strides in their learning or struggling, it’s important to use the summer months wisely to alleviate the frustration and stress in September. Studies have shown that if children take a break from learning completely over the summer, they could lose months of learning, especially if they were unmotivated during the school year. That’s why it’s a good idea to consider getting a tutor, for as little as once a week, which can provide educational support to keep your child’s mind sharp.
Some of the benefits to summer tutoring include:
1. Increases confidence and feel in control of learning: Children and teens struggle with their confidence in themselves in general, and especially as learners. The time they spend one-on-one with their own teacher will help to build their confidence and start the next school year in control of their own learning.

2. Provides ample time to review and/or get ahead: Working with a tutor over the summer can give them time, now that they’re away from the daily stress and pressure of school, to review the concepts they struggled with this past school year and/or even get a head start on the new concepts they’ll be seeing next year. Especially if your child struggles with the fundamental numeracy and/or literacy skills, it’s important they have a good grasp on these before moving into the next school year.

3. Keeps the learning momentum and makes the adjustment into the next grade easier: If your child has a set routine with a tutor reviewing, reading and learning, it will make the transition back to school easier in the fall.
At Teachers to Go, we completely understand that the summer can be a hectic time for students and parents, which is why our teachers have flexible schedules to work around yours.
